Late summer germination

Of the 4 leaf types we planted for our fall garden, this is the only one we had problems with...low germination and survival rate compared with the others. We had some heat during the germination period...this one is evidently most effected by the higher temps...

I had excellent luck with the Green Ice lettuce this year. Had a huge crop, had to give some away to friends. Makes a great salad with Vital green spinach. Goes great together.

Tastiest leaf lettuce grown

This is the easiest to grow and the best tasting lettuce I have ever tried. I usually plant 4 different kinds. This year I decided to plant all Green Ice. The heads are huge and each leaf is very large. With 4 leaves, I have a nice large salad. Washed with cold water and put into a zip lock bag, this lettuce keeps very well in the fridge. Not at all like Red Sails lettuce, e.g, which is wimpy and has to be eaten right away.
