The stalk's short 5-ft. height helps it withstand summer wind storms, but surprisingly every plant produces two beautiful golden ears so early; living in SC, I get my first harvest in mid-June! The taste is sweet and kernels crisp but has plenty of the traditional corny flavor; it is much better than Kandy Korn in my opinion. It froze well too off the cob, and I was sad to see our supply spent with the winter only half finished. It is worth planting for the first early taste of fresh corn weeks before other varieties mature. Try planting this with Gotta Have It hybrid--Gotta Have It is THE absolute best, but not as early as Northern Xtra Sweet. - Monday, November 09, 2009Great early corn Reviewed By: Bill (Falkville, Alabama) Planted this corn early and harvested in mid June in north Alabama. Very good flavor and followed second planting with Got to have it. No problem with cool soil with this variety. Guests at Sunday dinner rave about our home grown corn. - Monday, December 21, 2009BEST OUT THERE Reviewed By: alan bane (tollesboro, ky) I have tried them all and IMO it's the best sweet corn out there.
