Zones: 4 - 9 (-20° F.) protect in areas below -20 F.
Height: 15-20 in
Spacing: 12 - 18"
Depth: plant with the crown just at soil surface
Spread: 15-20 in
Sun/Shade: full sun to partial shade
Color: purple, lavender
Foliage: Gray-green almost white when young, evergreen needle-like, 1 1/2" long, 1/4" wide
Blooms: mid summer into early fall
Comments: Not only is this perennial indispensable for its strong fragrance but it is a lovely component for the garden. The neat mounds can be used as low hedges, edges for a border, interplanted amongst other perennials in a flower bed and it is very attractive in a container. Lavender has been a garden favorite for years and the flowers can be cut to dry for fragrancing at ohome. This is one of the most durable available and asks only for hot summer sun and a well drained site out of wind. Thrives in baking hot situations where many other plants will not grow.

Big disappointment

We planted these THREE TIMES (3 plants each time). Not one lived. They didn't even try to turn green. They may do great in the mid-west or in the east. But here (Zone 7), they don't like us at all.

We planted about 15 of these plants in the spring. They are SO beautiful in the catalog, that I just couldn't wait for them to start growing and doing something-anything. Well, they haven't done a thing. My husband continues to mow around them, but would much rather mow right over top of them. They look the same now, as they did when we took them out of the box, about 5 inches tall and kind of a grayish color. I haven't given up on them yet-but don't know why.

I purchased 1 plant just to see, living in the Fl climate I know certain things want grow, no matter what you try. This plant tried to green up, after 6 weeks still just a hint of green and no real growth. To many warm days or what, I'm still waiting for the growth.
