Ready to burst!
Reviewed By: Athena (Dover, DE)
We've purchased our Star Magnolia Tree about 3 years ago from Gurneys. Very hardy little tree. The first season it took a beating when grass fertilizer came a little too close. But it recovered quite nicely. It doubled in size since last year. It gets new buds on it every December, which I thought was odd at first. They just sit there waiting all winter for a warm week in Spring to burst out.

Bought our first tree this Spring and planted it on day of arrival. Developed leaves quickly and so far so good. Did have a broken lead which was disappointing so the tree is a bit unbalanced for now. Big hopes for scented blooms next spring.

second times a charm

I recieved my sapling for planting last Spring. It was an 18" whip that faired very poorly. the poor dear had buds and then just withered away. I contacted Gurney's and they shipped my a new one that arrived in late february just before the bad snow came. The new onehad 3 leads and plenty of buds begging to open but I couldn't plant out side due to the snow. I planted it in a peat starter mix and it is doing really good. No blossoms( I think because of the peat mix) but tons of leaves and VERY healthy. Currently we're starting to harden it off. I don't want to take any chances losing this one.
