Sweet Shrub

Sweet Shrub

Highly Fragrant Flowers and Foliage!

  (3 customer reviews)

Grown since Colonial times, also call Carolina Allspice. Grows 6-9 ft. tall with deep burgundy late-spring blooms. sweet Shrub has a heavenly fragrance similar to strawberries. Thrives in sun or partial shade.

Flowering shrubs are bargains in beauty. They produce a profusion of flowers and foliage- a feast for or senses- and seem equally attractive to birds, butterflies and hummingbirds. Even when they’re not in bloom, many add interest to the landscape. Shrubs grow fast, last nearly forever and require a minimum care.

Wonderful Shrub

My parents own a Sweet Shrub, it has been in our backyard for over 40 years. The Sweet Shrub has such a wonder fragrance that it gives off in the summer months. Now that I own my own home, I will plant a Sweet Shrub in my back yard. The Fragrance from this plant brings back such good memories.

My wife and I bought this shrub last spring (2007). I was skeptical of much foilage the first year. To my surprise, it sprouted leaves and new wood immediately. We got one flower the first year. I was excited because I figured none would come until the second year. I am very excited to see this years growth. Great fragrance from mature shrub.

I haven’t had the pleasure to order this shrub but I have had the pleasure of one for years at my Grandparents house in Big creek West by golly Virginia. I can honestly say that if you want a very fragrant shrub this is the one for you. I was told that my Grandpa or his father one use to cut a piece and place it in his shirt pocket for a substitute for cologne. I want to get atlease 6 of them and line them up around my home, the only problem with this shrub is that it will spread fast. how ever that can also be to your advantage by cutting the running roots and transplanting them else were.
