APPALLINGLY BAD GRASS SEED
Reviewed By: kirsten (danbury, ct)
Bought this last fall. 5 x 5lb bags so not a small investment ($125 worth of seed) Bags were dated almost 18mths prior and I called to ask if this was a concern (I knew it was a concern - that is very old seed way past it's best). I rented a tiller, tilled the lawn, spent a couple days raking, prepping, fertilizing, liming and seeding. Grass seed was a huge disappointment - spotty growth - about 25% of my lawn has coverage. Invested time and money and got ripped off. I called Gurney's and explained - they siad they;d send replacement seed and I said "please mark the order to not be Jan 2005 seed" - so what arrived - exactly the same seed with the same date. No point sowing that. Then I called up and they very begrudgingly refunded my money with nothing to recompense me for the time and labor that I will have to repeat when I reseed the lawn. VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED. Also bought 6 Sea Holly's and only 2 have come up - can't recommend quality to anyone and likely won't use again.

Great Seed
Reviewed By: Bev Ellegood (Waldo, KS)
I am gradually changing all our grass over to Shade Champ. I started it in the fall watered it good until it was up good and then occassionally. I hand broadcasted it and it is wonderful. Comes up a beautiful dark green color and is soft to walk on barefoot. It greens up early and doesn't require a tremendous amount of water after it is established which is important for us being on a rural water line.
