Niobe Hybrid Clematis

Niobe Hybrid Clematis

Big 8- to 9-Inch Blooms from Spring to Frost

  (4 customer reviews)

Enormous flowers—8-9 in. across—cover the vines early summer through frost. Vivid colors make the blossoms look tropical, but clematis is tough and hardy—nearly carefree once established. Requires a support (something thin, like wire or chain link, will work best) and climbs 8-12 ft. Does best when planted in sun with some afternoon shade. Potted plants. Zones 3-9.
This plant attracts butterflies.

This item will ship in fall 2012.
If our fall shipping season is closed, your order will be shipped the following fall.

I absolutely adore this clematis! My only issue, is that my blooms are not the burgundy color shown in the picture but purple.

I love this clematis! Once established, no worries. This is my second year and this flower is blooming like crazy. I cut this flower back to about 8" in the fall and it came right back. I'd put it everywhere if I had the room!!

Niobe is the first clematis I've planted and for 5 years now it has been a simple joy to grow. It established quickly, was smothered in blossoms the first season and blooms more vibrantly with each passing year. It is planted in full sun but the base is kept mostly shaded and lightly mulched. I also cut it back to 2-3 feet in early March, fertilizing once a year when I notice the flower buds forming.
