They were a little bitter at first. I let them ripen a bit more, and they were alright raw. Then, I pitted them, just with my thumb, very easy. I stuck them in the microwave enough to cook them, with a little sugar. Wow, they tasted like really sweet cherries after this. They are great with ice cream. From what I have seen, cooking with a little sugar makes a huge difference. I had cherries the second year after planting, and quite a few. Don't disregard this cherry because the unripe raw fruits are a bit bitter. The plant is hardy and from what I have seen even bugs stay away. - Wednesday, June 15, 2011Hansen's Bush Pie Cherry Tree Reviewed By: Betty (Bismarck, North Dakota) I noticed the review by somebody that disliked these. Of course they aren't real good to eat raw. But I made such wonderful Jelly last season with these. I am sure they make great pies also. Everybody wanted my Jelly, and some want to know where to order these. I see they are not available for order now, I hope that is available soon. We think they are wonderful and they are doing great. We planted two yrs ago and had a great crop off 2 bushes last summer. They are doing great! So I would recommend this to anybody. Thanks much! - Thursday, April 14, 2011Good plants Reviewed By: Jon (Silverhill, AL) I got these plants about 2 weeks ago and promptly planted them. 2 weeks later i have seen lots of leaf growth and am hopeful that by this time next year i will have flowers and fruit. Thanks! Read More Reviews |
