taste is bad
Reviewed By: Irina (Denver, CO)
This bush is suitable only as decorative. Taste of cherries is bad. I am going to get rid of those cherry bushes and replase them with something else. It is wasted time and money to grow them.

Hansen's Pie Cherrys
Reviewed By: Wayne Cunningham (Clovis, CA)
I planted 6 bushes 2 yrs ago and according to instructions they will fruit in the 2 yr. They did I pick about 2+ lbs of them and I plan on picking some more as they ripen. The taste is not what I exspected I was looking for something in the line of Black Cherries. The Hansen are juicy and small & for me I think they be better used for pies and jellies. Some of the berries are a little to tart for my taste. But that just me I am sure with a little sweeter & a preboil they make great pie fillings and or jams/jellies. Over all I give them 7 out of 10 on scale.

Good flavor

I planted a row of these in 1993. They eventually got crowded out by evergreens and the rabbits also chewed them off. They were better flavored and larger than the Nanking. I am reordering and will have to find a way to keep the rabbits out, possibly starve the cats during the winter or buy mass quantities of rat poison on sale.
