Product review for Contender Peach Tree Overall Rating: ![]() Write an online review and share your thoughts with other customers Sort Reviews: Newest | Oldest | Highest Rating | Lowest Rating :: Viewing page 1 of 3 - Saturday, July 07, 2007Dead on Arrival Reviewed By: Ken (Tully, New York) Gurney's shipped trees via US Postal Service who took forever to deliver - 8 days. Trees were packed in plastic lined box with a very, very small handful of shredded paper which was nowhere near the roots. Plastic was not sealed or tied around roots. Paper wad was bone dry, all 4 trees had budded when received. It is a miracle that the other 3 lived. - Sunday, August 26, 2007loves peaches Reviewed By: debby jacobs (monticello, minnesota) I bought two contender peach trees last spring and this year, the second summer, they have produced peaches. They have the sweetest flavor and are very juicy. They made it through one Minnesota winter with no protection and produced flowers and fruit. I dont need to spray for bugs as I don't think the pests know what a peach tree is here. :) - Sunday, August 26, 2007Great tasting/cold hardy Reviewed By: Dave (Oshkosh, Wi) I bought a reliance and a contender from you two years ago. Both have just bloomed this spring, and both with 12-15 fruit, but the contender tastes out of this world. I am ordering two more contenders, will put them on the south side of the house. - Monday, May 12, 2008Looking good Reviewed By: Olaf (Montrose, MN) If anything like the reliance these should be great. The UPS guy dropped them off at the wrong post office 3 towns away. My friends there called me so I had to drive through a snow storm to pick them up. Happy little trees though. 0 stars UPS, 5 stars Gurneys, 10 stars USPS. 0+5+10=15/3 = 5***** - Monday, May 19, 2008Plant them early!!! Reviewed By: Mick Reese (New Paris, IN) Late spring of last year, I planted two of these trees. Even though I watered them like crazy, they didn't make it. Gurney's replaced them free of charge. They shipped them in early March of this year. I had to break thru two inches of frozen ground to plant them. That was the key!!! I watered them alot and the leaves just burst out. They look very healthy. I am convinced that planting these trees early as posible is the key!!! Great tree. Hopefully fruit in a couple of years. |
