Disease Resistant
Reviewed By: Todd (Raymond, NE)
My parents have a two year old sundance tree and I planted one this last spring. Cedar apple rust has affected some varieties on our yards, but sundance shows no sign of cedar apple rust on either of our sundance trees. Mine is planted close to a windbreak of cedars and still shows no sign of cedar apple rust! There are many cedar trees in our area, so cedar apple rust is a concern here, as evidenced by some other varieties I have. The varieties I have that show excellent resistance to cedar apple rust include sundance, liberty, and wolf river (a HUGE apple). Our sundance apple trees are too young to bear fruit yet, so I might be giving it a five star rating too soon, but I could not help but notice it's excellent disease resistance.

Quick Start

I have a small yard and ordered Lil Big Pixie Crunch, Sundance and Liberty apple trees. The plants arrives much bigger and sturdier than the twigs I would expect to get from an online nursery. About a week after I planted them, the Pixie crunch and Liberty just exploded with both leaves and blossoms and the Sundance had buds all over but is taking longer to leaf out. These trees are excited to grow, and I am thrilled at how little effort has been required on my part to get them up to speed. I expected to have to nurture them and prod them, but so far so good. We'll see how they do from here.
