I prune mine to grow as a small tree in front of my porch. It has nice, low-hanging branches for birdhouses/feeders, etc., and provides shade for my porch and hostas. It grows extremely fast, so you can have a pretty little shade tree in just a few years. I love my Russian Olive! - Sunday, May 06, 2007Russian Olive = Invasive Weed Reviewed By: Dr. Don Trisel (Fairmont, WV) This plant is one of many that is known to escape from cultivation and become a problem weed. I would like to recommend that Gurney's discontinue offering this plant for sale. Until it is removed from their catalog, I also urge all gardeners and landscapers to avoid the use of this plant. |
