The stalk's short 5-ft. height helps it withstand summer wind storms, but surprisingly every plant produces two beautiful golden ears so early; living in SC, I get my first harvest in mid-June! The taste is sweet and kernels crisp but has plenty of the traditional corny flavor; it is much better than Kandy Korn in my opinion. It froze well too off the cob, and I was sad to see our supply spent with the winter only half finished. It is worth planting for the first early taste of fresh corn weeks before other varieties mature. Try planting this with Gotta Have It hybrid--Gotta Have It is THE absolute best, but not as early as Northern Xtra Sweet. |
