It arrived in good shape with a little foliage- about 5" high. I put it in a self watering container and gave it to my mom in SC to care for while I was away during the Summer. Three months later it was a goliath of a plant. It didn't stay compact at all, but rather sent several long woody stems draping over the sides of the container with lots of foliage on them. I've removed those stems in an attempt to encourage the plant to stay small and bushy. The leaves are certainly sweet- but also a little bitter in this summer heat. I'm guessing they sweeten up more when the temperatures fall off later in the season. Overall I'd say it's a worthwhile investment. Next time I'll wait until Fall to trim back this zealous plant so the leaves will be sweeter. - Tuesday, October 20, 2009Arrival Condition Reviewed By: Robert Hodge (White City, OR) This plant arrived with only 3 viable leaves on it and the pot dry. Snail mail for sure. Does taste sweet and will be good for cooking if it lives after re-potting. |
