I too have a Bird. I have had it for many years in a pot, then planted it in my yard three years ago. It is not, about 12 feet and blooms like crazy! I love it! Have you ever looked closely at the trunk of these trees when they are this big? JUST BEAUTIFUL,smooth to the touch beautiful shades of greens and browns! I just love this tree, and we found the perfect place for it to thrive! This is the third place we moved it to and this is the place! Enjoy your Bird! Lookign forward to babies!!!!!

Too many Leaves
Reviewed By: Charlotte Aucoin (Lafayette, La.)
I had my Bird of Paradize(6 ft) 4 yrs. before it bloomed. Once it began blooming like crazy. The blooms were gorgeous and huge. 3 yrs ago it even had double blooms. This was without fertilizing. My husband decided to put it in the biggest pot made and last yr. and this yr. all it has done is multiplied many many leaves and has only given me a few blooms. It looks terrible. Afterward I found out it prferred crowded roots in smaller pots. I will have to either cut off half the leaves or break this huge pot and make a bunch of smaller ones. I have 2 huge pots with this plant. Do not put in large pot. This plant has performed exceptionally until we messed it up. I now will have at least 8 to 10 new plants from the mothers.

I've got these growing in my garden and they've been blooming non stop since I moved into my house 8 months ago. The humming birds love them. They come by constantly to get at the nectar. Beautiful plants

BIRD OF PARADISE
Reviewed By: MARLIN (PARKSVILLE BC VANCOUVER ISLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA)
My Bird of Paradise liveson the back deck till chilly October nights. She spends the winter in our warm living room beside the deck window which gets morning to noon sun. She's got 10 beautiful leaves, had two separate blooms over last 1 1/2 years and I see a new blossom starting now for Christmas! While wintering indoors, Keep vigilant watch on leaves & stems for scale & remove by scraping off immediately. Thank you Ana!

I have had my Bird of Paradise plant for 20 years and just last month in December of 2007 my plant started to bloom. One flower is in full bloom and there is another one starting. I am surprised that they bloom in this area of the states.
