MAGNIFICENT English Walnut
Reviewed By: Coach (Hillsdale, Illinois)
I just ordered my 3rd "Hardy English Walnut"! The trees not only grow relatively quickly, but retain a beautiful shape...& have now borne 3 great crops of nuts!! [the oldest pair of trees are now 7 years old & over 25 & 30 feet tall. I can recommend most highly for both appearance & nutbearing.

English Walnuts

I ordered 3 rocket root trees, they were out of stock. So they subbed 6 two to three feet field grown trees. This is the first year. I received them just before Easter. We got 6 inches of snow two days later, so could not plant them for 8 days. I put them in a 5 gallon bucket with two and a half inches of water, wrapped them with more wet newspaper, and rewet the paper everyday. I finally got them planted. Nut tres don't start to leaf out in this area until June. I was a kind of worried. In June, sure enough 5 of them leafed out,and number 6 grew from the bottom part. All grew 7 inches and the trunks doubled in size. So far I am very happy with them. Hope they make it through the first winter. I place all 6 across the front of my property, they will be beautiful.

walnut blight

I planted this walnut last year and first year I noticed leaves had black crunchy edges. It survived, but I suspect that's walnut blight. So I would recommend to have some preventive treatment if you plant it. This spring I have the same problem.

english walnut tree

I bought 1 of these trees 15 years ago. I moved from the house where it was planted. I could not find anyone to move the tree with me. I was very disapointed. From such a little tree it had grown into a beautiful 10 foot high & very symetrical tree. The tree was just beginning to produce nuts. It brought back many memories of my childhood where we had such a tree over 50 feet in diameter and height. Am going to try again! Thank you

I bought 8 of these trees and out of the 8 only 2 started. Of the 2 that started only one is continuing to grow. The one that is growing is doing really well and is growing like Mad. Its sad that i spent the money on 8 trees and only 1 is growing.
