It toppled over one summer afternoon from wind, so we are looking to replace it soon. It is very different type of tree and it grows in Zone 4 very well. Like others have said, do not plant it any where close to the house. - Friday, May 25, 2007Pretty Tulip Reviewed By: Veronica (Abbeville, Alabama) This tree has beautiful shaped leaves, they are always green and this tree seems to grow fast. I planted this for the shade (as it can grow up to 80ft.) and as a host plant for the local native butterfly, the "Easter Tiger Swallowtail". As with all plants for butterflies, it grows back and the only thing I've noticed the caterpillars have eaten are chunks off of some leaves. This tree survived several freeze threats this past winter (2006) and as long as I water it well twice a week, it seems to be doing well in our current drought. I can't wait to see it bloom in the future . - Saturday, March 24, 2007It is STUNNING when it blooms! Reviewed By: Lisa (Ekron, Kentucky) This is one of my favorite trees in my yard. Once it took off (about 3 years) it bloomed just a little - the next year - WOW! It grows really fast and provides nice shade - and really do not plant close to anything - it is going to grow huge! |
