It fixes nitrogen. Other trees and shrubs growing with it increase in growth rate. It can tolerate pollution and drought. Overtime it improves the soil making it easier for other plants to get established with it. It is not native but it is a fantastic work horse of a plant and is currently holding up millons of tons of topsoil along many of our nations highways. - Tuesday, November 02, 2010Think before you plant Reviewed By: D.
