They look great Too! - Monday, April 13, 2009My Favorite Plant in the Garden! Reviewed By: Wendy (Roaring Spring, PA) These are the last flower to poke it's little leaves up through the soil in the spring (sometimes, as late as May) Occasionally you might get lucky and get a new volunteer close by in the spring. I've transplanted them before they get the long root, and they do just fine. The best part is...keep your eye on them everyday in the late summer because, monarch butterflies love this plant. I have found oodles of caterpillars on the leaves. I give the caterpillars in jars away to the neighborhood kids and elementary teachers to let them watch as they turn to butterflies.
