Niobe Hybrid Clematis
Niobe Hybrid Clematis
Big 8-to 9 Inch Blooms from Spring to Frost.

  (2 customer reviews)

Enormous flowers--8-9 inches across--cover the vines June through frost. Vivid colors make the blossoms look tropical, but clematis is tough and hardy--nearly carefree once established. Requires a support (something thin, like wire or chain link, will work best) and climbs 8-12 feet. Does best when planted in sun with some afternoon shade.

Potted plants.

Zones: 3-9.

I love this clematis! Once established, no worries. This is my second year and this flower is blooming like crazy. I cut this flower back to about 8" in the fall and it came right back. I'd put it everywhere if I had the room!!

simple beauty
Reviewed By: tenacres (Mt. Claire, IL)
Niobe is the first clematis I've planted and for 5 years now it has been a simple joy to grow. It established quickly, was smothered in blossoms the first season and blooms more vibrantly with each passing year. It is planted in full sun but the base is kept mostly shaded and lightly mulched. I also cut it back to 2-3 feet in early March, fertilizing once a year when I notice the flower buds forming.
