Gorgeous, bright purple starlike flowers cluster upon 30- to 36-in. stems. The intense color and high nectar content attracts butterflies and looks stunning in the middle or back of a flower bed. Full sun to partial shade is ideal. Blooms from mid-summer to fall. Potted plants. Zones 4-9.

Foliage is fine and attractive even when plant is not in bloom. Butterflies are greatly attracted to this plant due to its high natural nectar content. Very tolerant of hot dry locations.
