No matter how small your garden, you can grow squash. Compact varieties are available for both winter and summer types, and often just two or three plants will yield enough fruits for a small family. Summer squash is prolific, forming new flowers every day—you can harvest 6-8 fruits a week from one plant!
Harvest Tip: Pick zucchinis at 4-6 inches, and crooknecks and straightnecks at 6-8 inches for best flavor and tenderness. Winter squash is an excellent keeper; plant enough to store for winter.
Seed Count: 1 ounce of summer squash seeds contains a 100' row. 1/2 ounce of winter squash seeds contains about 125 seeds and sows a 100' row.
