With their distinctive perfume, cantaloupes (also called muskmelons) and other melons turn a fruit salad into ambrosia! Cantaloupes also are excellent sources of vitamins C and A. Give melons fertile soil and warm temps (use black plastic mulch in cool regions), and you'll harvest plenty of large, luscious fruits.
Harvest Tip: You'll know the melons are ripe when the fruit slips easily from the vine. The exception is honeydews, which turn pale yellow or tan when ripe, even though the stems may not slip.
Seed Counts: 1/8 ounce of cantaloupe seeds contains about 125 seeds and sows 25' of row.
